Hangin' With the Girls

We have had so much fun this week! As you know from my previous blog post, we went to Noah's Ark on Monday. Well, yesterday we met up with Isaiah's girlfriends at Mead Pool in town. He had a great time swimming with Kamryn and Kathleen, and I enjoyed visiting with their mommies, Jenny and Tanya. Isn't this picture adorable?!?! We're hoping to make our visit to the pool a weekly play date with our friends.

Isaiah had just woken up from his nap when we left for the pool, and he promptly rubbed his sunscreen in his eyes. That explains the red eyes. Target had some face sensitive Water Babies sunscreen - I might just have to invest in some of that. He was a little timid at the pool. I noticed this at Noah's Ark, too. I'm planning to look into some swimming lessons for him, so that he can get used to the water. Kathleen and Kamryn were both so adorable! Kathleen was definitely enjoying herself, and Kamryn liked to put her hands in the water fountains in the shallow end of the pool.

We're definitely finding all of the less expensive activities around our house. Today we went to the movie theater to see a free movie. On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, there are 2 movies shown for no charge - one rated G and one rated PG. We met friends at Regal - Tanya and Kathleen, Jodie, Melissa, and Jenny and Kamryn to see Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. I have no idea if I spelled the title correctly, but it sure was a cute movie! I had no idea what to expect, so my expectations were pretty low. I was very impressed! Isaiah did pretty good. If he misbehaved, so what - we weren't out any money, right? He ended up falling asleep about halfway into the movie. We wrapped up our morning with lunch at Rocky Rococos. Good times!

America's Largest Waterpark!

That's right! Noah's Ark, baby! We had a great time yesterday. The weather was outstanding and we didn't get sunburns. Enjoy the pictures from our day.

Rise and Shine

It's too early to be out of bed.

Maybe this glass of milk will help me to wake up.

In an effort to get Isaiah back on schedule, we woke him up at 8:00. As you can tell from the pictures, he did not want to be up. He was so cute sleep-squatting while he drank his morning milk!

Today has been a better day on the crankiness scale - sort of. The morning was great! We starting the day walking Tim to work. Isaiah played when we got home while I made French toast for breakfast - yummy! He played some more after we ate, and I was able to clean up a few things around the house.

After lunch, Isaiah slept for about an hour. He woke up a completely different child. First of all, an hour is not near enough time for a nap. (We have yet to get him to sleep some more.) Secondly, I can feel two top teeth coming in towards the back of his mouth. If only those little guys would just pop through our lives would be much easier...

Tonight we're off to watch a minor league baseball game with the Young Adult group from church. Tune in tomorrow to see if we have an enjoyable or a miserable time.

Mistaken Identity

What a day! Isaiah was quite cranky. It all started with his late nap yesterday... He slept from 6:00-7:40, so he did not fall asleep for the night until after 11:00. Oh, dear. We put him in his crib, but I could hear him babbling. Because of the late bedtime, he didn't wake up this morning until 11:00. He's becoming more and more like his mother every day! haha

I took him to Kohl's and Target - he was crabby at Kohl's, but did okay at Target. Around 2:00 this afternoon, I let him play in his little pool on the back deck. (Pictures to come later.) He did okay playing in the pool and for the grocery run we made when his dad got home. Around dinner time he lost it again. I let him fall asleep for a little while and walked him to the park to swing when he woke up. About this time, Tim was getting out of church, so we walked up there to see if he wanted to walk home. Which gets me to the title of my blog entry for today...

Keep in mind that we had picked Tim up from church. He was dressed in his suit with a black clergy shirt. We walked by these two little kids playing in their driveway, and the older one (probably 4) says to Tim, "Are you Jesus?" HAHAHAHA Yup, you read that right! That's what he said! It was the cutest thing!!! As we walked away we could hear him singing Jesus Loves Me. How adorable!!!

The Beggy Sandwich

The name for this sandwich was made by combining my name with the word egg. I created the sandwich, and the egg is the best part!

Ingredients:
2 pieces bread
butter
strawberry jam
1 egg, scrambled
1 slice cheese

Directions:
Toast the 2 pieces of bread while scrambling the egg. Spread the butter and strawberry jam on each slice of bread. Place the scrambled egg on one piece of bread; top with slice of cheese. Make a sandwich by putting the other piece of butter and jam toast on top of the egg and cheese. Yummy!

Yields: 1 sandwich
Prep Time: 5 minutes

Happy Dad's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all of you dads out there!

I called my dad this morning to tell him I was cooking him breakfast and what time would he be here. Can you believe that my parents were in Nashville?! I thought he was kidding, but he was really serious. He was halfway to my house! (They went to KY to help my grandmother move.) It's just too bad that couldn't come the rest of the way here. My scrambled egg, toast, and jam sandwich was fantastic!

We attempted to go out to lunch today. Isaiah had a meltdown from being overtired, so we ended up packing up our meals and eating at home while he napped. And, of course, dinner was Cold Stone Creamery. Who can resist a free ice cream for Dad?

Play Date With Kamryn

Kamryn came over to play last night for about an hour. We had tons of fun!

What a cute little girl playing toys with me! I'm so proud of myself for actually sharing and not snatching anything away from her. (Yea, Isaiah!)

This is one of my favorite books about Grover. How about if I read it to you?

You can ride in your car, Kamryn. But I would like to play with your plastic keys while my mom blows bubbles for us.

This has been so much fun. Does Kamryn have to leave so soon?

VBS - Day 5

Theme: Tell Others

I don't have any pictures from our last day of VBS because Day 5 was a church service. There weren't any dull moments, though - the tornado sirens went off about 5 minutes before the service was to start! Everyone to the basement... Apparently, a funnel cloud was spotted in the area. Fortunately, it didn't touch ground. We were able to come back upstairs in just a few minutes. It was certainly an interesting experience!

Isaiah really enjoyed himself on Day 4. We started with the puppet show in Bible Blast. This was a big hit with Isaiah! Next we went to the craft activity, followed by Science Cinema.

Day 2 activities included making a helping hands magnet, Bible class, and a craft activity. Let me explain the power. The name of our VBS is Power Lab. One of the songs is about Jesus having the power. Isaiah saw the big kids dancing and had to join in. What a fun night!

Weekend Update

So far, it's been a great start to summer vacation. Yesterday, Isaiah and I went to the grocery store. When Tim got home, we made a Sam's Club run for some of the food needed for VBS. Sam's Club on a Friday night is always a good idea. Isaiah ate half of his dinner in samples - hahaha! He tried strawberry lemon bundt cake, fried rice, and mac-n-cheese. I had dinner out at Los Compadres with friends. As always, we had a good time with lots of laughs.

Not much exciting went on today. I guess you could say it was a typical Saturday. I made breakfast pizza this morning. So good! Isaiah chowed down with us. It is really nice that he will eat whatever we're eating now.

Time to check out all of my friends' blogs. Tomorrow is the first day of VBS. I'll have to remember to bring our camera...

It Figures

It's the first day of summer, and I just wake up at 6:00. Just my luck. I guess I'm just so excited that I don't have to go to work today! Sorry. It's not that I'm bragging - I'm celebrating.

Things I want to do today:

• take a walk with Isaiah (if it doesn't rain)
• grocery shopping
• drop off the car payment
• renew my license plate
• get the winter clothes to the basement and the summer clothes to the bedroom

Making My Mama Proud

Guess what my project was tonight at Scrap-and-Craft? Counted cross-stitch! I pulled out all of my materials from a rubbermaid in the basement because I wanted a little change of pace.

Yes, Mom, I'm still working on the Donald Duck at the helm wheel. Cody and Taylor were even with me tonight. Their dog hair ended up all over my lap when I dusted off the already-started project.

My needle almost looks like Donald's eyes!

Tonight I stitched the right side of the beak and the completed portion of Donald's tongue.

Narnia

This afternoon, we took the youth group to see the next Chronicles of Narnia movie, Prince Caspian. It was excellent! If you have not seen the first movie, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, it might be helpful to see that one first. I don't think it is absolutely necessary, though. For once, I saw the movie before reading the book. This book is now on my summer reading list.

Isaiah's taking an extra nap right now. Sorry this is short, but I want to get a few things done while he is sleeping.
