Voting Poll

I set-up this week's poll a little differently. If you would like, you can select more than one answer. I chose all three choices.

Going to church at any of the times offered at Good Shepherd works for me. I'm just glad to make it there each week. It really is a good place to reflect on my actions for the week, and it really puts things into perspective for me.

Isaiah and I were going into the grocery store this morning after Sunday School. Across the lane in the parking lot was a family of four - mom, dad, brother, and sister. The boy and girl were arguing. The mother said to them, "Would you two stop! We just got out of church, and I was feeling so relaxed!" That lady is completely right! After church, I feel that same way, too.

Tim's sermon this week talked about sharing our faith with others. Even what I write in my blog can do this!

My time in worship at church is the best hour of the week - time to reflect and give thanks to God for all of the blessings He has given me. Besides, it is only one hour. I can certainly spare that short amount of time for God.

Mashed Potato Face

Saving some mashed potatoes for later...

Ah... It's Saturday. So many things to do. I want to run to Kohl's and look for new gym shoes, and I need to pick up a few things at the grocery store. It's report card time at school again, and I'm behind in laundry. Add to all of that everything lying around the house that needs to be put back in it's place.

Feeling Frusty

I'm feeling pretty frustrated. I just can't seem to figure out how to get camcorder videos uploaded to my blog. I have started a You Tube account. I think there is a way to put You Tube videos on here, but I haven't had a chance to figure that out yet. (If you know how, please post a comment with instructions for me!) Don't worry, people. I'm not giving up; I'm more determined than ever now! I just need the time to sit and tinker with this 'puter.

It's a short post tonight. I want to look at some catalogs before heading to bed. It's budget time at school, and I need to get my order requests turned in.

Night, night sugar plums! See you in the mor morn! (OK, I probably won't see you in the morning, but that's how it goes. My cousins Amy and Kelly, my Aunt Pam, my mom, and my sister will vouch for me.

As we also said in my house growing up - night, love you, sweet dreams, see you in the morning! (And before leaving for school it was - bye, love you, have a good day, be careful!) Oh, the things we remember!

Feels Like Monday

Busy day, busy day! I can't complain, though. I actually had a pretty good day, especially for a Mon/Tuesday. My students were just as confused as I was. We had to keep reminding each other all day that it's Tuesday and not Monday today.

I'm downloading the camcorder to my computer while I'm typing right now. It's going to take a while to transfer all of the files, so I won't have a video clip for you tonight. I'm hoping to have everything figured out for tomorrow.

Oh my goodness! I have an audiobook and non-fiction book due at the library today! I forgot them on my counter as school, so I better get them renewed. Hang on, I'll be right back...

Thanks for waiting. I would hate to have to pay that $0.10 fine! Did I tell you that I lost my library card? It's a very convenient library card, as it is on my keychain. Well, I went to check out a book about a week ago, and don't you know that it was gone! The librarian was nice enough to cancel my card and issue me a new one. I'm so glad that I caught it when I did! It would be terrible if someone went on a lending spree with my library card! What a tragedy that would be! I'd be out of nickels paying someone else's late fees for books checked out on my card! (I hope you're laughing by now. I also hope that you know me well enough to know that I'm being funny and not serious.)

Boy are you in for a treat! I've been rambling on so long about Mon/Tuesday and my library card that the camcorder is just about done downloading. I'm going to post this for tonight, but I hope to get a video clip with sound posted this evening, too.

Trying Something New Here...

I'm trying something new today. I have attached a video clip of Isaiah. It's not the most exciting, but it is still cute. Don't check your speakers - our digital camera does not record sound when we record video clips. (I want an updated camera - hint, hint Tim!)

Once I make sure you can view this video okay, I'm going to play around with the camcorder videos. Our camcorder has a hard drive, so it downloads to the computer. I am hoping that I will be able to post videos from there on my blog, too.

Anyway, I hope this works. Let me know what you think...

He is risen!

He is risen, indeed! Alleluia!

Tim was up very early this morning for the sunrise service at church (6:00 a.m.) Isaiah and I went to 8:00. I sang in the choir at that service, and then again at the 10:30 service. In between, we enjoyed a wonderful pancake breakfast served by the Lutheran Mens Fellowship group. It was yummy! Isaiah enjoyed his first pancakes.

Can we go to the breakfast now? I want to try those pancakes!

Look how big I am!

We figured out why Isaiah was sick. Sour milk!!! The gallon was dated 3-31-08, but I started to notice a pattern. While he couldn't keep milk down, he did fine with yogurt. Hmmm... I tasted it, and sure enough it was a little "off". It wasn't too bad, but it was hard enough on his little digestive system. Tim picked up a new gallon for Isaiah, and he has been perfectly fine! Mystery solved, Booper is better, and Tim and I do not need to dread getting the flu. Whew!

Relapse

Yesterday, Isaiah had a bit of a relapse. He just couldn't seem to keep any food down. At this point, I don't feel like it is necessary to take him in to see the doctor. His diapers have continued to be normal, and his temperature has not gone above 100.3. Thank goodness for small favors! I did call the pediatrician's office and talk with the nurse, though. I gave her all of the information, she talked with the doc, and then called me back. She said that we are doing everything we should/could be doing for him right now. We backed off milk again because his tummy was just not ready yesterday. The nurse was very reassuring and reminded me that I could call again or bring him in - there is an office open all weekend in Menasha.

Isaiah has the most WONDERFUL nurses and doctor! If you're looking for a pediatrician and live in the Appleton area, give me a call and I'll give you the doc's name.

This morning, Isaiah woke up at 7:00. I gave him a blueberry waffle for breakfast (no syrup, of course), and he seemed to enjoy it. So far, so good...

We would like to wish a very happy first birthday to Isaiah's friend Kathleen from church. Isaiah is exactly 4 months older than Kathleen, and they are very good friends. We went to Uno's for dinner with them on Wednesday evening. The two of them are so much fun to watch! Tanya, let's plan a play date soon!

Last night was the Passion Play at church. To all of my friends who were in it - you did a fantastic job! Isaiah got very still and was intently watching as the cross with Jesus went up. Wow! Such a moving performance.

Icky Sicky

What a night we had last night! Isaiah had some kind of stomach bug. He had to stay home from his play group, and the poor little guy looked so miserable! He was like a little rag doll when I held him and was very cuddly. I just tried 3 oz. of milk for him, and so far, so good.

Jenny reminded me of the BRAT Diet, and it worked great today. Thanks, Aunt Jen! Isaiah has been eating bananas, rice cereal, applesauce, and toast. Well, OK, no toast. And he's refused most of the food, but he seems to be feeling much better.

I am exhausted, so this will be short tonight. Isaiah ended up in our bed because the dry heaves were rather scary. None of us slept well last night. Hopefully, tonight will be a restful night.

Mexican Train

What a day. I will remain professional, and not complain about my draining day...

Isaiah and I got the Dominoes out last night. I had planned to stand them on end and make cool designs for him to knock over, but he thought it would be a better idea to throw them across the tile. He had the most fun, and so did I. Those belly laughs are just priceless! He's too young to learn the rules for Mexican Train anyway, right? So, of course, I joined in the fun.

This is a great new game, Mom!

I must take every single one out of the box.

Totally Relaxed

Today was a great Monday for me. Everything seemed to go so smoothly. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact I had a 3 day weekend. I am very glad to have a 4 day weekend coming up next! We are off school for Good Friday and Easter Monday. While Friday will be busy with church committments and Monday I have other appointments I am looking forward to some relaxing time with my boy.

Here you can see that Isaiah has gotten a head start on the relaxing...

Please don't talk to me until it's commercial...

I'm going to be needing another graham cracker soon. And a refill on my juice would be nice, too.

Form Fitting

Another weekend is coming to an end. This week will be a short week at work (Friday off), but we will have very busy evenings with it being Holy Week. Tuesday and Wednesday are choir. Thursday and Friday we have church. And, of course, church on Easter Sunday. Tim has the sunrise service. I am going to choose to stay snug in my bed during that service. Choir will be singing at 8:00 and 10:30 services, so I will be attending both of those. (Our Easter song is a little tricky.)

Before I left work on Friday, I cleaned my desk off. I have to say, it feels pretty good to know that I will go into school in the morning to a clean desk. We'll see how long it lasts.

I can tell that a couple of big weights have been lifted this weekend. My 316 classes are done (Rock on!), and we filed our income taxes this afternoon. Cross two big things off the 'To Do List'. The next project that I need to tackle is to look into classes for lifting the stipulations on my Wisconsin teaching license. For some reason, my undergraduate work in Florida did not cover Wisconsin history. Go figure. I am hoping for on-line coursework. We'll see what I can find.

So I bought Isaiah some pajamas at Kohl's last Friday. We got a good giggle at the snug fit.

What Can I Say?

I don't really have much to report tonight. I wanted to post to keep you coming back and reading my blog. Be sure to check out the new poll! I have already voted. Any time that toilet paper is going under, I absolutely must turn it around the other way.

Today was my last grad class for my 316 Reading Teacher license. Yea!!!!! Next year, I will be moving into a position as a Title Reading teacher. I am looking forward to the different responsibilities that brings versus my current position of classroom teacher.

Palm Sunday is tomorrow. Isaiah and I went to church last Thursday evening, so our palm crosses are already hanging in our bedrooms.

The Unknown

How did I not know what an awesome show Lost is? Why didn't I start watching it sooner?!?! I should have just listened to Dad and Jenny... I am completely hooked! I went all the way back to season one, and have been watching episodes on the Internet. (What an awesome thing to be able to do, by the way!) I figured I might as well start at the very beginning so that I wouldn't be confused. Will they ever get off that island???

I had today off work. It was so relaxing! I didn't realize how much I needed it. My project is finished for my class tomorrow, so I was able to play all day. I did a little shopping with my friend Tori, her mom, and two daughters. We found some great buys at Kohl's. Lunch was at Culver's. Isaiah thoroughly enjoyed his chicken tenders. Since we were out-and-about he is just now taking his nap. He was such a good little shopper today. :-)

Tomorrow I have my last class in the reading teacher licensure program. Yea! My case study is all finished and ready to hand it. What a wonderful feeling that is!

Dinner tonight will be BBQ Ribs that I have had cooking in the slow cooker all day. The house smells really good! My mouth is watering...drip, drip, drip.

For now, I'm going to get a few more chores done while Booper is sleeping.

New Arrivals

The end of February and beginning of March have been very busy for our extended family!

Two of my cousins have had new babies - one girl and one boy. Tim's cousin has had a new baby - a boy. My friend from across the street when I was growing up has had a baby - a boy.

The Great Indoors

Since it is so cold outside, we are not really into the outdoors right now. (Though it is warming up this week - temperature highs will be between 36-40 all week!) Carrying on tradition from my childhood, is the great indoor tent!

Future Boy Scout?

Ah, yes. I remember the days so clearly. Jenny and I would build these awesome tents while Mom and Dad were at work. Of course, we had the help of our very good friends Laura and John from across the street. We could never admit this to our parents, though, because Laura and John weren't supposed to be in the house when we were home alone. Oh, dear. Things like this are going to come back and bite me as Isaiah grows up, aren't they? I'll just have to remember to keep him away from cookie dough and firecrackers. Snickerdoodle dough makes great "cookie-crackers" in the middle of the street...

Not Again

Yes, again. I have another cold. Great. Just great.

It has been a very busy weekend. Friday night we enjoyed an outstanding dinner at the home of a couple from church. Saturday, Tim went ice fishing, and I spent the day with Isaiah. We straightened up some messes in the house and ran a few errands. I even invested in a baby gate! Yea! No more chasing up the stairs every 15 seconds! Today, as you know, we lost an hour of sleep. That is a big time bummer when you have to be at church early! I played O Sacred Head Now Wounded on my flute with accompaniment on the piano. It is such a beautiful song! We played pre-service for both services, and choir sang at 10:30. This afternoon I went in to work to work on my project for my grad class. I am ALMOST finished. When I got home, we headed to Oshkosh to visit a church friend in the hospital due to a staph infection. Please keep him in your prayers.

Now, it's time for beddy-bye. (Is that how you would spell that?!) I better go. Isaiah is saying, "Mamamamamamama." I think he wants me to pick him up.

Good Intentions

So many times I have good intentions. For example, I intend to post pictures of Isaiah with homemade blankies by Nana Suelee and Great-Grandma Werder. I intend to keep my house clean. I intend to make some serious progress on my case study for my graduate class. I intend to post pictures of Isaiah at his first dance.

Oh, well. I guess my intentions will just have to wait until tomorrow. For now, I will leave you with a very profound thought about parenting.

Parenting means not being able to use the bathroom with the door closed anymore. If you close the door, your kid sits just outside it and cries pitifully. It is so wonderful to be needed and loved so often, though. I will gladly "go" with the door open if it means my sweet little Isaiah wants to be near me.

I'm sure you are now laughing at my expense. That one is okay - because I intended to make you smile when you read my blog.

I now intend to get some sleep. Night-night sugar plum!

Cabin Fever Day

Today was Cabin Fever Day at church. For those who don't know, Cabin Fever is a silent and live auction held at church after a burger and brat "picnic" lunch. OK, so it's not really a picnic, but it's tons of fun!

Tim and I are taking a Sunday School class about budgeting and finances. We must be learning something because the only thing that we bought was our lunch! Isaiah had a great time playing in the children's area.

I left a huge basket of school work for the weekend in my classroom. I am taking advantage of this and trying to organize the basement this weekend. I have to say that it looks a little better. I actually feel like I am making some progress. :-) Isn't it amazing how quickly a little extra space can get filled up? Where did all of this stuff come from?!?!

It's almost 4:00. That "Sunday night/I have to work tomorrow feeling" is starting to creep up on me! You know what I'm talking about - that Sunday night feeling is such a bummer! Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!
