We did OK last week in following our family dinner menu. We were thrown off a bit when there were no leftovers for Monday night, but I was glad the chicken taco pie was that good. Next time, I plan to add some bell peppers for a bit more flavor and mix it up with pepper jack cheese. Wednesday's rigatoni dish made A LOT, so I fish sticks were bumped to this week. I made Saturday's dish yesterday for lunch; it will make nice leftovers for my lunches this week. Both of the kids LOVED it! I loved it because it is so easy. Kraft recipes are great!
So here is our attempt at a menu for this week:
Monday
BBQ Chicken pieces with rice and salad
Tuesday
Fish sticks, mac-and-cheese, vegetable
Wednesday
Sloppy joe sandwiches, mashed potatoes, vegetable
Thursday
leftovers
Friday
Southwestern Potato Patties ~ New recipe!
Saturday
Grilled pork steak, party potatoes, skillet green beans
Sunday
leftovers

Menu Monday
Welcome to Menu Monday. I've decided to try planning our dinner menu a week in advance to see if it helps us to eat home more often and eat more balanced meals. I also saw this on another blog that I follow and thought it was a great idea. Since imitation is the best form of flattery, I'm sure it's okay to steal this idea.
Monday - leftover Chicken Taco Pie (from Sunday)
Tuesday - Stampin' Up Club and lia sophia party - grab 'n' go supper!
Wednesday - Rigatoni with Italian Poultry Sausage and Sweet Peppers
Thursday - fish sticks, dinner rolls, and vegetable/salad
Friday - pizza and salad
Saturday - New recipe! One-Pan Taco Beef and Noodle Skillet
We'll see how well we are able to stick to this. Husband-of-mine, if you are reading this, please don't tempt me to eat out. I am too easily swayed after a long day at work.
If you have any quick, easy, kid-friendly recipes that we could try, please post them as a comment to any of my Menu Monday posts. I'm always looking for new things to make!

Forgive Me?
Isaiah lOvEs his new Thomas jammies (thank you, Aunt Jenny!) and his new Froggy books (thank you, Aunt Joan!). I just love the smile on his face in this picture. So, even though he's sitting on the Elmo Potty, to the Internet it goes. :D

Better Late Than Never
I had really get better about this whole blogging thing. I seem to be consistently behind in posting pictures. Perhaps it has something to do with chasing two little ones and working full time... Hmmm. That could be it.
Anyway, here are some pictures of our family Christmas. We had a great one this year, with Isaiah singing lots of the Happy Birthday song to Jesus. Mallory starting walking (more than just one step) on Christmas Day. I consider that a great Christmas present. I just love that I was not at work when she started cruising around all by herself. She's getting to be such a big girl!
The kids and I attended the 3 o'clock service at church on Christmas Eve. A pretty big storm with some yucky sleet/ice/snow was coming through, so we decided to go to that service, even though I knew it would cause problems with naps. Better to be safe than happy, I guess. We sat with the Koellers (who are a great help to me in church, by the way!), and Mallory took a nice little nap while Debbie held her. :)
Mallory's Christmas dress is so adorable. My mom made it for her! (Okay, Feranec family - "She MADE it!")
This the best we could get out of her. She kept trying to escape.
Isaiah is looking so grown up!
If only he would behave a little better in church...

Tim was working for 3, 5, 7, and 11 o'clock services on Christmas Eve, so he did not have to go in for Christmas morning. It was a good opportunity to sleep late, open presents, and stay in our jammies all day! Well, 2 out of 3 isn't bad, I suppose. Guess which one of those we didn't get to do?

That Reminds Me...
All of this snow falling tonight reminded me that I hadn't posted pictures of the kids playing in the snow last month. If you will remember back to mid-December, we had our first blizzard of the season. Over 14 inches of snow fell that day. Ridiculous.

Mallory's 11 months pictures
Mallory will be turning a year old this week, so I figured it was time to get her 11 month pictures posted. I don't have a picture of her in the bouncy seat this month. (Oops. We'll make it up later.)
Special thanks to our friend Tanya from church. She made the adorable tutu for Mallory! I found the wings and thought it would be fun to do something different for Little Miss's pictures this month.

Chicago Trip 2009 - Last Morning
Wednesday morning - time to go home. :(
It's funny how things change when you have children. (Okay, so sometimes it's not so funny.) We were on the expressway on our way out of Chicago by 9:40 a.m. Back in the day, Tim and I would have been just sitting down to breakfast. I am really, really glad that we were able to take the kids on this vacation. They really enjoyed themselves. I think it is even more enjoyable for us to do things like this with them because their reactions to new experiences are so fun to watch.

Before I end my postings for this trip, check out this rare find at a store on Wabash Avenue. Be sure to turn the volume on your computer up!
HAHA - You're welcome for getting that song stuck in your head. :D
Until next time, Chicago...

Chicago Trip 2009 - First Day
Millenium Park
John G. Shedd Aqaurium
Last year, this entire area of the aquarium was closed for renovations. We were quite happy to be able to catch up with our old friends - penguins, dolphins (especially the dolphins!), and sea lions.
