Lotta Firsts

Bites with a fork! He doesn't scoop on his own yet, but we're choosing to fight only one battle at a time.

The spill proof cup - thank goodness!

This took a long time to upload. I hope you enjoy it! Tim got me a new camera for my b-day, so my clips have sound now!

First Nap in the Big Bed

Today was a big day for Isaiah. Not only did he try to feed himself both yogurt and peas with a spoon, but he napped in his big bed for the first time.

He played in his room for awhile, but that's pretty typical. Just as he was settling in, he fell off the bed. Fortunately, he didn't hurt himself. The pile of laundry on the floor next to his bed cushioned his fall nicely. :-)

Mission accomplished!

Sweet dreams, sweet boy!

30

Today I turn 30.

My 20s were great. My happiest moments were graduating from college and starting a teaching career, getting married, and the birth of my son. Naturally, there are a few things from my 20s that I would rather forget, so I won't bring those up now...

My 30s are going to be spectacular, too. I am so blessed to have Tim, Isaiah, and all of my family and friends. 30 will certainly be memorable with the birth of our second child!

P.S. Isaiah and I were saying his meal prayer tonight, and he said, "Amen," instead of "Yea"!

Water + Exercise = Fun!

Tonight I went back to water aerobics. I am quite proud of myself for going alone. I really have to push myself to go to the gym sometimes, especially when I'm flying solo. I'm sure Jen would have gone with me, but she had to work tonight.

It was a great class! The instructor was very helpful to me. When we did the abdominal exercises, she guided me through modified reps. She told everyone to push with their abs, but she told me not to. Hehehe! I really appreciated the support.

This one lady kept splashing me! She kicked me and knocked my arm, but the splashing was really getting annoying. I kept trying to drift away, but she kept getting closer and closer. Ugh. It was still an enjoyable work-out, though. This program seems to be more full body than the classes I had been to at the city pool. Hey, city pool friends - we did the frog jump tonight! Our instructor has us use the hand weights throughout the class, unless we're using the noodle.

I can't say enough that we made the right decision in renewing with access to the Menasha Gold's Gym. When you're happy with your gym, it makes it much less of a chore.

Remember, people - as my instructor said tonight - if you rest, you rust!

Eventful Weekend

It's already been a busy weekend for us, and it's only half over!

Last night, Isaiah stayed home with Tim, and I went to dinner with some friends at El Azteca. We had tons of fun! Ordering my dinner turned out to be somewhat frustrating/comical. Being pregnant, I'm a little picky. I was so in the mood for a beef burrito and a beef and cheese quesadilla. How difficult does that sound? Apparently, it's pretty tough to get tortilla shell, cheese, and ground beef - that's it! No vegetables? Right, no vegetables. The food comes out, and what's in my quesadilla? Mushrooms. I hate mushrooms. Back to the kitchen it goes. About 10 minutes later (seriously, it took a long time - poor Krista had been waiting for her meal to even come out once), they brought back the SAME one! I am not kidding. I opened it up, and it was cold and filled with mushrooms. Let's try this again - tortilla shell, cheese, and ground beef - that's it! No mushrooms? Right, no mushrooms. I waited another 5 minutes or so, and out comes a different waiter with my plate. He put it down in front of me and said, "There you go. Mushrooms and cheese."

Grrrrr!!!! I don't want mushrooms!!! He laughed, and said, "I'm only teasing you!" He sure is lucky I was in a good mood. At that point, I laughed and all was forgotten After all, it tasted delicious! I LOVE the food at El Azteca.

This morning I met Jen at the pool at Gold's for water aerobics. It was fantastic! I am so glad that we renewed our membership. The pool felt great, and it was a really good full body work out. We can't wait to go back again. I'm going to try for Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday classes this week.

Before I left for the gym, I made breakfast. When Tim was clipping coupons last week, he found a recipe for Cheese and Sausage Potato Pancakes. YUM!!! (Isaiah and I just shared a leftover pancake for a nighttime snack.)

Isaiah even tried to use his fork! With our help, he's been getting better with yogurt and a spoon. We guide his hand and let go close to his mouth and he puts it in himself. It's a start, right? As you can see in the picture, he's got the wrong end in his mouth. Oh, well - at least he put the end he was stabbing into his pancakes in. That should count for something.

I've been recording home movies from our camcorder to a dvd tonight. Isaiah has really enjoyed seeing baby Isaiah on the tv. I ask him who the baby is, and he says, "Isaiah!" The movies have me so excited to have another little baby in the house! Isaiah brings us so many smiles, and pretty soon we'll have another special little person to love. I think I look forward to watching Isaiah and the baby together the most. We really are blessed.

Tomorrow is a craft day at church. I'll be teaching how to make a paper bag album at my station. Hopefully we have lots of people attend. It's going to be tons of fun!

We'll be found in the front pew tomorrow. Isaiah likes to watch his dad during church - it really helps his behavior there!

Night, night.

P.S. I noticed lots of trees with their leaves beginning to change this morning!

Spilled Milk

We had to try Time Out with Isaiah last night for the first time.

He has a very bad habit of tossing his cup to the floor when he is in his high chair. I scolded him, and he did it again... To the "naughty step" we went. Tim set the timer for me, and I had to sit with Isaiah on my lap. (Didn't want him to escape the naughty step.) He cried pitifully the entire time. When the timer beeped, Tim brought the cup over and we had a little talk about putting our cup on the table.

Isaiah ignored me for about an hour after that. I'm quite proud of myself for getting through it. He has GOT to learn not to throw that cup.

Well, I think it actually had a little bit of lasting effect. Later on in the evening, we were playing with Legos downstairs. He accidentally dropped his cup, and milk spilled everywhere. It truly was an accident, so all I said was, "Uh oh!" You're never going to believe what he did. He picked up his cup and lid and tried to put the lid back on by himself. It was soooo cute!!!

One of Those Days

Have you ever had a day where you've just felt "off"? That was my day today.

I am so crabby. Everything is irritating me.

I guess some days are just rough. Maybe Tim and I should switch sides of the bed for tonight, so I can wake up on the other side of the bed tomorrow and give that a try.

Picture Book

One of Isaiah's favorite books to "read" is a scrapbook made for me by my mom and sister when we moved to Wisconsin. I love to tell all of the special stories from my childhood, and the pictures really add to it.
We still love the scrapbook, Mom and Jenny! We look at it often.

Operation Stakeout

We have such a great group of youth at church. I absolutely love their sense of humor! We woke up on Saturday morning to find...

5 teenagers camping in our back yard!
OK - so I discovered them around midnight. Tim and I got a big kick out of it. I felt really bad the next morning, though. Had I known it was raining, I would have invited them in to sleep in our living room. Their tents had a few puddles in them.

Ethan had to leave for work, so he's not in this group shot. Isaiah LOVES his youth buddies! :-)

T and Ethan look so sleepy!

Group picture (missing Ethan) at breakfast - Pastor Tim, Isaiah, Becky, Taylor, Jessica, Sara, and Derrick

It was fun, guys! You got us!

Baby #2 Update

I had a regular check-up with my OB doctor today.

Isaiah and Tim were able to come along. Isaiah enjoyed Dr. Clark's company, and he even counted to five for her. I think he was auditioning to help me count through pushing when the baby comes along, but he's going to have to stay at home with a baby-sitter for that big event. Tim had him playing with his keys, and Isaiah was looking quite intense. As soon as he heard the heart beat, though, he looked up and smiled sooooo big! That moment was so special for me that I forgot to ask what the heart rate was. Oh, well. It was good and strong, that I can tell you. :-)

My blood pressure and weight are great. So far I've only gained 10 pounds. Woo-hoo!!! I am quite proud of that! I go back in 3 weeks.

WARNING! WARNING! Pregnancy exam details to follow. Read at your own risk...

At my appointments from now on, I will have a fetal fibronectin swab and an ultrasound to measure the length of my cervix. After this next appointment on October 2nd, I will be going in every two weeks for these same procedures. I am so excited about the ultrasounds every two weeks! My doctor's office has a GREAT 3D machine, so I'm hoping for lots of good pictures to show Isaiah.

I will still continue with the weekly progesterone injections (which are making me cry from mood swings rather often). A nurse at school is teaching me how to give them to myself. I get to shoot up my thigh this Friday. Lucky me. Not.

Isaiah and I are missing out on lots of time together now that I'm back to work, so I'm going to get off this computer now. Nighty-night!

Just Because

My husband is wonderful. Thursday at work, I received a call from the secretary. She needed to let me know that I should come to the office to pick up my delivery.
Aren't they beautiful?!?!
I love you, honey bear. Thank you for making sure that my first week back to school was extra special.

Ring Tones

Tim has been downloading music on his Blackberry to use as ring tones when people call him. He's putting a lot of thought into each selection.

I need your help. It's been difficult for him to pick out the perfect song for when I call him. I think he should use one of my cds, and download New Kids on the Block Cover Girl. He refuses.

Please vote in the poll I have set up. I am campaigning for Cover Girl because everyone knows how much I LOVE NKOTB. I always knew they would get back together. Good thing my parents saved all of my stuff for me. I feel that my ring tone song should be a reflection on me. Did I mention yet that when the new cd came out on Tuesday I was at Wal Mart at 6:00 a.m. to buy it? It's a.W.e.S.o.M.e.!

One more thing before I go, sign up near the voting poll to follow my blog! I would love to see who and how many people actually read this thing. :-)

P.S. Isaiah is now counting all the way up to 4!!!

The Library

Isaiah got awfully quiet yesterday, so I went looking for him. Where did I find him? Reading books in the library...

I'm so proud of him! He loves looking at books.
