Playing Toys

As you can tell, Isaiah enjoys to throw his plastic toys on the tile around the fireplace. They make really cool noises when they hit the ground.

Isaiah found himself a little step to sit on while playing toys.

The adorable ESPN jersey came from our friends the Hansens - Gretchen, Jeff, John, Grace, and Henry. Too cute!

Isaiah does not usually play around the fireplace, but he looked so cute sitting on the step the other night! I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of him.

Little Boy Chair

Isaiah in his Little Boy Chair

I think this picture of Isaiah is so adorable. My parents had given Isaiah this folding chair from Bass Pro Shop, and until now he had been too small for it. He loves to sit in it! He's even gotten in trouble for standing up and bouncing in it. His feet don't quite touch the ground, but he's getting better at getting out of the chair without falling face first into the ground.

I have decided to call it Isaiah's Little Boy Chair. Most people would probably say Big Boy, but personally, I cannot stand that expression. Big Boy is a hamburger chain! Big Boy was annoying Howie on Big Brother 8. Isaiah is a little boy. He's not really my baby anymore. Well, to me, he'll always be my baby. OK - I'll stop with the Big Boy pet peeve.

Happy Memorial Day to you and your families. We have the most beautiful, sunny, warm weather today. Of course, tomorrow it won't be as warm. Like Tim said, though, that will make it a little easier to go into work. We enjoyed a nice family walk to Applebee's for lunch. This afternoon I'm heading to church for Scrap-and-Craft. I've got to be there in about an hour, so I had best get off the computer and switch my laundry.

Tracy Blankie

Our very good friend, Tracy, made Isaiah his very own Tracy Blankie. I am especially grateful because Isaiah had been using the blanket that Tracy made for me. I get my blankie back! Yea!

As you can tell from these pictures, Isaiah is enjoying his new Tracy Blankie from the moment he got it. The pictures were taken at our Young Adult Fish Fry at Ken and Jen Puls's house. (Seriously, Ken fries up excellent fish! And the homemade tartar sauce...yum!) Isaiah is sitting with Ryan and playing peek-a-boo with me while I try to take pictures with Jodie's camera. We have such good friends. Someone has always got a camera when we forget ours. :-)

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Tracy! Isaiah is upstairs napping with his Tracy Blankie right now.

The Big 7

The Birthday Girl

Shelby's 1st Day of 1st Grade (August, 2007)

Today is my very special niece Shelby's 7th birthday. I cannot believe that she is already 7 years old!!! (Where do the years go?)

At times like this, I am reminded of how difficult it is to live so far from my family. As I sit at my computer in Wisconsin, she is at her home in Florida having a birthday party. My heart breaks that I am not there celebrating with her.

OK - enough sappy stuff. Shelby and Holly, too - I can't wait for this summer! We will have tons of fun when you come visit us in Wisconsin and when we come to see you in Florida. I LOVE YOU!!!

Sunday and Season Finale Time

I am so proud of Isaiah. He was very well behaved in church this morning. Usually, I hold him or he sits on my lap during the service. Today I put some toys on the pew and let him stand and play. He did great! He didn't even try to escape - hahaha.

Tim had confirmation pictures during Sunday school hour, so I taught the Young Adult class for him. We're doing a great study right now - it's about the Christian themes in the book/movie The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Isaiah took an OK nap today, and he seems to be feeling better. He's a little clingy, but I don't mind that at all. I've gotten a lot of chores done around the house with Isaiah following me around saying, "mama mama mama mama mama" repeatedly. It really is quite cute. :-)

Did anyone else see the season finale of CSI last Thursday?!?! Oh my goodness!!! I was totally shocked by the ending. I did NOT see it coming!!! All of the season finales have been pretty good so far. I did think that the "cliff hanger" on Brothers & Sisters was a little weak. They could have done a better job, but it was still okay. Housewives should be pretty good tonight.

Have a fantastic week!

Still Here...

Sorry, blogging buddies. I'm still here. It's been quite a week.

Isaiah has yet another ear infection. He's on another round of antibiotics. I am very thankful for the numbing ear drops that we had prescribed this time. They are very helpful at bedtime!

It is hard to believe that there are only 13 school days left. While I'm feeling the crunch of so much to do in so little time, I am certainly looking forward to summer break. All I want is to spend tons of time with Isaiah. We're going to have a great summer!!!

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

The Simple Things in Life

Isaiah is cracking up right now. He thinks it is hilarious to drop his goldfish crackers, one at a time, on the tile floor. I know the proper parenting thing would be to tell him to stop throwing his food, but his belly laugh is one of my favorite sounds in the world. I wish we were all so easy to entertain as we get older.

Today was a typical, hectic Monday. I have yet to download the pictures from the camera. My Book Club met at a restaurant for our monthly meeting tonight. We were discussing the book Lottery by Patricia Wood. What a wonderful, super, fantastic book!!! You really should check it out.

Time for bedtime routine!

Milwaukee Quick Trip

We're back home!

Tim picked me up from work yesterday, and we headed for Milwaukee. The Cardinals were in town, so we got tickets to see Cards v. Brewers on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. The results: Brewers won Friday night, 4-3; Cardinals won Saturday afternoon, 5-3. It was a good time, but a bit frustrating at times for fans of both teams. (Especially for families where one person is rooting for the Cardinals, and the other person is cheering on the home team. Grrr.)

I don't have too many pictures, but I did take a couple. I'll post those tomorrow, as I would like to unpack our travel bags before bed tonight.

You Go, Girl!

Jodie kicked my tail at miniature golf tonight! (Jodie, the title to this blog entry is for you! :-)We had a great time with the youth at Badger Sports Park. The high school youth played mini golf, rode go-carts, hit a few in the batting cages, and put a couple of tokens in some video games. Jodie and I agree that it would be a fun place for Girls' Night Out. I would also like to take Shelby and Holly there for a round of golf when they are visiting in June.

After Jodie beat me (the score is too embarrassing to mention), we played a few games in the arcade. I won Isaiah an Elmo stuffed toy! Yea! Jodie won a Big Bird football and was kind enough to give it to Isaiah. Sara and Jessie both gave Isaiah their small slinkys. You ladies are too kind! Thank you so much!

So Many Words

Isaiah's Words
  1. Dada
  2. Mama
  3. Bye-bye
  4. car (with a Jersey accent - sounds like cah)
  5. ball
  6. baby
  7. uh-oh
  8. Nana
  9. Pawpaw
  10. hi
  11. yeah (I'm trying to transition him to yes instead. Oh, the memories from childhood...)
  12. Elmo (his newest word - sounds like Melmo)

We think we've heard cookie and book once or twice, but those haven't quite stuck yet. He's trying to say his name now, too!

New Talent

Isaiah is learning new things every day. As you will see in the video clip below, he has figured out the purpose of the yellow twirly slide on his Leap play center. Poor little guys gets his hand caught at the end, though! But don't worry - it ends well!

Church Work Day went well today! Thank you, Gretchen - you are so organized and did a fantastic job in keeping everyone on task. So much was accomplished! In case you are wondering, I worked on cleaning the nursery. Windows were washed - inside, outside, and the screens; trim was painted, bathrooms were scrubbed, the kitchen was organized, church pews have been polished, and more! God's house smells great - just like Duster Plus! :-)

Nap Time...?

Tim and I are very blessed. At nap time and bed time every day, we lay Isaiah down in his crib awake. He puts himself to sleep. Well, the other day, he was supposed to be sleeping when I went upstairs to check on him. This is what I found...

Where's the baby?

A one-person game of Peek-a-boo is actually quite enjoyable!

It's a typical Saturday around here for us. We've been doing some light cleaning and organizing. Tim found a new recipe for fish and cooked lunch for me. It has a spicy rub with a hint of lime. Good job, honey bear! You can cook lunch for me more often!

Melissa came over this afternoon, and we went for a nice walk in the neighborhood. We had planned to take Isaiah, but he took a very long nap today. The weather was just right. It's cloudy, but not raining. The cloud cover is keeping the temperature nice and cool. It will be great when it warms up a little, but I really enjoy jeans and sweatshirt weather. I call it Baby Bear Weather - it's just right!

Tomorrow is Church Work Day. Read closely all of my Good Shepherd friends! The Family Task Force has organized a spring cleaning of God's house from noon until 5:00. Cleaning is always fun when it's not your own house, right? Did I mention that lunch will be provided? Hope to see you there!

Remember Me?

Sorry, people! It's been a very busy week.

My class took a field trip to the Milwaukee Public Museum. I remembered my camera, but I forgot the battery at home. Sorry that I can't post pictures from there. It was a GREAT time. I was very impressed with the exhibits. (The IMAX movie was kind of boring, though.)

Spaghetti Face

I think I need a tubby now...
