VBS 2011

The theme for Vacation Bible School this year was Pandamania. Mallory had a blast; Isaiah was a little overwhelmed. I think we got things figured out by the end of the week, though, so that Isaiah could get a lot out of the experience, too. He is still singing the song, so I'm so glad that we took the kids again this year!

Hi Jenn and Brinley!

How's the parachute game for you there, Ken?

Keep shaking the pandas!

It's Kamryn!

Parachutes are TONS of fun! (I remember them from elementary gym.)

God is WILD about YOU!

Summer!

Yesterday was the last day of school! Yay for summer vacation!

We have so much planned for the summer. Next week, we'll be taking the kids to Vacation Bible School at church in the evenings. Then we'll have a quiet week before our vacation. We're making the loop to see our families with stops in Pensacola, Cape Girardeau, and Minneapolis. I'm a little apprehensive about our trip this year. Isaiah thrives on routine, as would be expected when you consider Autism. Hopefully, his laid back personality will trump the fact that his surroundings will be unfamiliar to him.

When we return in early July, I'll be doing 2 weeks of curriculum work, so the kids will get to visit their friends at "school" during the day. I'm sure they will completely ENJOY 2 weeks of day care fun in the middle of the summer. They love going there every day; we're so blessed to have such great teachers taking care of our children while we are at work.

August is going to be incredibly busy. Next year, I will be moving back into a classroom of my own. I'll be on a new adventure as a 2nd grade teacher. It will be fun to teach one of the primary grades! I am so super excited!!! It's hard to believe that the 2011-12 (how weird do those years look?!) will be my 10th year teaching already! I'm sure Isaiah and Mallory will be a HUGE "help" setting up my classroom.

Stay tuned for pictures showing our summer fun!

High Seas Expedition

Every year on the first week of summer vacation, we have family VBS in the evenings at church. It's quite a long week for us as a family, but it is tons of fun. One of the best parts is dinner at church every night for a week! I helped out in the kitchen, which I enjoy doing. Tim's VBS responsibilities included the opening and closing each night of the program.

Pastor Daddy in his collar hat :)
I really like this picture. :) Do you like how I decorated his hat?

Group gathering times were quite a challenge. Both kids did not want to sit still...

Katie and Mallory stuck together!

Yes, that's our daughter up in the pastors' faces. She liked to walk around during the Bible lesson. Personally, I thought it was kind of cute. She's only 17 months; you can't expect her to sit still, can you?!

Dancin' Baby

Mallory started with a new word during VBS - ouck which means out.

Ryan wasn't really much help here. Isaiah and Katie are STRONG! HAHA - you know that I'm joking, right?

Pull, pull!

Yeah, I don't think so...

VBS - Day 5

Theme: Tell Others

I don't have any pictures from our last day of VBS because Day 5 was a church service. There weren't any dull moments, though - the tornado sirens went off about 5 minutes before the service was to start! Everyone to the basement... Apparently, a funnel cloud was spotted in the area. Fortunately, it didn't touch ground. We were able to come back upstairs in just a few minutes. It was certainly an interesting experience!

VBS - Day 4

Theme: Live Forever!

Bible Blast Puppet Show - Isaiah loved the puppets!

Science Cinema

Isaiah's favorite part of Science Cinema; Tim's favorite was Chadder to Chipmunk.

Isaiah really enjoyed himself on Day 4. We started with the puppet show in Bible Blast. This was a big hit with Isaiah! Next we went to the craft activity, followed by Science Cinema.

VBS - Day 3

Theme: Be Brave

Isaiah likes to sit at the table with all of the other kids.

Walking on Water

Day 3 activities included games, craft (doorhanger), and Bible lesson. Just like Jesus gave Peter the power to be brave and walk on water, He gives us the power to be brave.

VBS - Day 2

Theme: Be Helpful

Isaiah and Daddy in Crafts

Isaiah's got the power!

Day 2 activities included making a helping hands magnet, Bible class, and a craft activity. Let me explain the power. The name of our VBS is Power Lab. One of the songs is about Jesus having the power. Isaiah saw the big kids dancing and had to join in. What a fun night!

VBS - Day 1

Theme: Be Thankful

Activity - Thankful Bubbles

Highlight of the Night - chasing a balloon around the Community Room

For the first evening of Vacation Bible School, we went to the game, Bible, and science sections. Isaiah was quite active and didn't seem to want to sit still. Hopefully, he'll do a little better tonight...
