Monday

I woke up this morning, and once again my eye didn't want to open. It seems the ickiness in my right eye has returned with a vengeance. I called the doctor to see if I could get an appointment, and the nurse said, "It depends." Are you kidding me?!?! If it is still grody tomorrow, I'll be calling again.

I finished listening to The Lovely Bones audiobook in my car today. I'm always sad when I get to the end of a good book. If only I had finished before it left the theaters. Darn. I guess I have to wait for the dvd now. :-( On the bright side, I checked out a new Jodi Picoult book at the library to take along on the womens' retreat this weekend.

I can already see that our menu for the week will be changing. I have over-planned yet again, and the Sunday dish is way to similar to the dish I made yesterday. Oh well. I'll get the hang of it eventually, right? And if not, it's not like the menu is etched into stone.

What's the Deal?

Yesterday morning, I woke up to a completely disgusting right eye. I called the doctor and spoke to a nurse, explaining all of my symptoms and she seemed to think that I had pinkeye.

Great. Just great.

As Saturday went on I seemed to be going downhill. In fact, around dinner time my left eye started to display the same symptoms.

Double great.

To make things even better, I started to feel the beginnings of some sinus pressure. Hellllloooo headache!

Mallory started crying early this morning for her nuk. I had to ask Tim to go to her because my left eye was glued shut and I couldn't see. I layed around today willing the sinus pressure to go away. I'm thinking it wasn't pinkeye, maybe just some dust that got into my eyes from moving furniture at work on Friday because the symptoms have vanished. (Thank goodness!)

I just put in a new pair of contacts to see how things go. I'm hoping that will help my headache, too!

I won't gross you out by putting up the nasty picture of my eye that I took.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We have been quite busy around the Seabaugh household. Here's a quick update for you.

Tim - Today was the annual spaghetti dinner at church. This event is the Youth Group's biggest fundraiser for their National Youth Gathering trip that is coming up this July. Lots of preparation goes into this ahead of time. As always, it was a wonderful and successful meal. I always think back to Isaiah and Mallory's baptisms at this meal. We cleverly scheduled both of their baptisms on Spaghetti Dinner Sundays (Isaiah's in 2007 and Mallory's in 2009) which doubled as our baptismal meal. He's also had a sick buddy at home - see Mallory's section below.

Becky - Work, work, work. What else can I say? We've been using a new system to meet the needs of our students which has been going great. The students are so excited to be using The Daily 5 and CAFE. The resource team teachers have combined our reading students, and the best rewards come from the kids. They come to class excited and asking questions like, "Do we GET to read today?" The Daily 5 and CAFE work together - it's all about meeting individual student needs and helping them to become more independent readers. If you're a teacher, I highly recommend the books (both quick, easy reads). Gail Boushey and Joan Moser are the 2 sisters & authors.

Isaiah - This coming Wednesday is a big day for Mr. Isaiah. He's got fluid behind both ear drums, so it's time for ear tubes! I'm glad his cold came last week. Please pray that he stays healthy enough before Wednesday and through the surgery (which I hear is quick and easy). We're hoping this will help to move his language development along.

Mallory - Mallory ws sent home from day care Thursday afternoon with a fever - 102.4. I think this is a record high for our two kids. She stayed home with Tim on Friday, and her fever returned after church today. She'll be home with Daddy again tomorrow. I have to remember to reschedule Tim's dentist appointment...note to self!

Family - We got a St. Louis Blues hockey game in this year! On February 3rd, we drove to Chicago after work to see the Blues BEAT the Blackhawks. The kids (and us, too) had a super fun time! We made a mini-vacation out of it and spent some time in Schaumburg, one of Chicago's suburbs. Isaiah's cold struck then, but we were thankfully driving by a Kohl's at the exact moment he puked in the car. (Vacation with kids is always interesting!)

And so, another week begins. Goal for the week - get and keep everyone healthy!

Summer Vaca ’09 – Day 3

Two words for you – food poisoning. We checked in at the Radisson – Pewaukee Monday night and immediately went to eat supper at the Thunder Bay Grille. Our hotel package included $40 FREE dinner there. The kids were both kind of…energetic. Well, okay. They were crabby. Tim and I both ordered fish. After the fact, the only thing we could figure was that it was undercooked. Blah. We did okay until bedtime, then we started feeling badly.

I connected to the Internet and did some blogging, and Tim started the movie the was also included with our room package. I should mention that the hotel charged us for the movie, and we had to go down to the desk the next day to get it taken off the bill. They tried to do that to us the last time we stayed there, so we were smart enough to check.

Did I mention that there was no remote control in the room for the TV? It’s kind of difficult to order a (free) on-demand movie without a remote… So, we finally get the remote control. The TV freaked out on us. The volume turned itself all the way up. We could not get it down, nor could we turn off the TV. What was with this hotel?!?!

Calgon take me away! No such luck. So, I was really looking forward to my shower at this hotel. It has a fancy shower with two shower heads. Pretty cool, right? Yeah, it would have been cool if they had both been working.

Breakfast was a joke. Where is Gordon Ramsay when you need him? He would have cussed the cook our of the kitchen for sure. I couldn’t eat anything except a bowl of Rice Krispies because of the whole food poisoning problem, and Tim attempted eggs which was a joke. The lady cooking at the egg station had absolutely no clue what she was doing. I could hear her complain to the waiter when he was getting her after Tim requested an omelet. Later on, she called the waiter out of the kitchen to come look at her eggs. She wanted to show the guy that the yolks looked like a smiley face. Give me a break.

The nicest thing I can say about the hotel is that the Kleenex was soft. Since we were feeling like we’d been run over by a dump trunk, we waited to check out at noon. With nothing to do until the ballgame at 7:00, we attempted lunch at Culver’s. Tim did okay, Isaiah did well, Mallory slept, and I was throwing up in the bathroom. Puking in a public place on vacation is always so much fun. Note the sarcasm. We didn’t last long at the Johnson Creek outlets, either, so we just drove back to Milwaukee. We did a little better at the mall in Brookfield.

Isaiah and Mallory sure enjoyed themselves! We went to Barnes and Noble to let Isaiah play with the Thomas the Train set. We got Mallory out of her stroller, so she could watch him. We’re at this Barnes and Noble in Milwaukee, and they have two train engines, Thomas and Percy, and Harold the Helicopter out for kids to play with. Are you kidding me? Our Barnes and Noble keeps about 30 trains out for kids. There was another little girl and boy there, and Isaiah shared much nicer that those kids. The other little boy kept saying, “Mine! Mine!” He sounded like one of the seagulls in Finding Nemo.

We nibbled at our food at McDonald’s before the game. I did much better here. A grilled chicken snack wrap turned out to be a good choice for an upset stomach.

We got to the game at about the same time they opened the doors. We turned in our BP vouchers for free tickets to a game in September and bought tickets to see the Cards play the Brew Crew again in Milwaukee on Labor Day. (We will be canceling our Radisson – Pewaukee reservations for that trip!) We were on the Club Level for this game, so getting in was easy. (There’s a separate entrance that you can use.) Our seats for this game are probably the best we’ll have all year. We were directly behind home plate. Compared to the ticket prices at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, these were a really good deal.

Both kids fell asleep just before the game. They woke up in time to see most of the game, though. What a lively bunch we were!

Isaiah was so cute saying, “Baseball, yo!” Mallory was quite the charmer for the people sitting around us. Guess what she did??? She clapped her hands! One day shy of turning 6 months old, too. I think we have a little bit of it on video. She did it really slowly, but it was too cute.
We left around the 8th inning. Our hotel was a Comfort Suites in Delevan, WI, so we had to drive about 40 minutes outside Milwaukee to get there. We arrived around 10:30, and immediately went to sleep. We were tired from feeling so sick all day long! Hopefully, our tummies will hold up better tomorrow…

Happy Easter!

Well, it's been an interesting day. Tim had church at 6:00 this morning. The kids and I met him at church for the pancake breakfast before attending the 8:00 service. Choir sang at both 8 and 10:30, but I brought the kids home right after singing at 10:30 to get the lamb in the oven - see the picture below!

Gotta love this one! Mallory wore her first dress today! So sweet!

This is hilarious! Jessie is hiding behind Isaiah, holding him up. Please DON'T say, "Oh, he's going to be a pastor just like his daddy!" We wanted to take a cute picture, not force him down a career path. Besides, it seems he's already on his way down a path of identifying circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, ovals, stars, hearts, and octagons for a living. Either that or he'll be a train engineer.

I made a lamb!!! It turned out really good, too!

So, this will be a quick post. Isaiah has developed that wonderful stomach flu that's going around. I'm going to go take care of him and pray that the rest of us don't get it, too.

Sick and Still Cute

Isaiah is so funny. He's been getting into shapes lately - circle, square, triangle. I checked out an Einstein dvd from the library for him called Discovering Shapes. He was watching it, and I asked him, "Are you enjoying your shaped dvd?" He looked at me and said, "ddd!"

Mallory has started to try out her voice! This morning and again tonight she was cooing!

Even when they're sick, they still do the most adorable things.

Follow-Up Visit

What a night. Needless to say, there wasn't much sleeping going on at our house last night. I think this is mostly because I was so worried about Isaiah and Mallory being able to breathe in their sleep.

Mallory still is waking up to eat every 2-3 hours. Her weight is up to 6 lbs. 4 1/2 ounces which is really good. The doctor told me this morning to let her rest and wake herself up for feedings, especially since she has been doing this anyway.

Isaiah is eating good, and his mood has been fantastic - unless he's waking up. He's a bit of a grump after his nap, but this is not really anything new.

Both Isaiah and Mallory are hydrated - we're getting wet and dirty diapers from both of them. I'm sure you really wanted to know that. While we're on the subject, Mallory peed all over the scale at the doc's office this morning. Then she peed on me when I was getting her undressed for her tubby. Silly girl!

This is going to be short, but I wanted to give you a quick update. Both kids seem to be doing well, considering how serious some cases of RSV can be. At this point, we keep them inside and let this thing run its course.

I feel like this post is all over the place, so I claim lack of sleep. If I'm more awake later I'll post again.

Homebound

Well, we are officially more homebound than ever before.

Isaiah and Mallory have both been diagnosed with RSV. Isaiah has had a pretty bad cold for the past couple of days, and it has progressed into a barky sounding cough. During the night last night, Mallory started the cough. I called the doctor's office this morning, and they were able to get them both in to be seen.

Let me tell ya' - that RSV swab did not look pleasant at all. My babies were both crying, and so was I. I've been doing some research, and I was surprised to learn that most children have RSV before the age of 2. I guess it just goes undiagnosed in most people. I'm really glad that I trusted my instincts this morning and called the doctor.

Isaiah and Mallory are both napping. (They've been napping at the same time - how lucky am I?!?!) For now we are pushing fluids and keeping the cool mist humidifier running. Mallory has another appointment with the doctor in the morning.

Obviously, the doctor's office is the only place we'll be going. I'm going to be the overprotective mother and keep my babies sheltered from the outside world.

What's the deal?

Why do I have to have another cold? I am sick of being sick! My energy is completely gone because of being under the weather again.

Really short post tonight. Isaiah is cranky. I am exhausted. We both need sleep!
