Day 4 - Exploring Toronto

Day 4 was very busy for us, as you can see from all of the pictures! We started the day with a walk to the St. Lawrence Market, and then we spent the rest of the day by the harbour on Lake Ontario.

This is not the best quality of photographs. There was major road construction just in front of our hotel, but I thought the building across the way was pretty cool. I kind of like how it looks fake in this picture. We were across from Union Station, which looked very similar to this building. I believe this one was some sort of judicial building.

Tim was ready to take the ice in front of the Hockey Hall of Fame!

This was the interior entrance to the Hockey Hall of Fame store.
More on the HHoF later...we didn't actually tour the museum until Sunday.

My Pinterest research before our trip turned up a couple of pretty cool landmarks. Here's one of them - the Flatiron - or Gooderham - Building! I'm so glad we found it! It was pretty cool to see in such a large city. Behind the building was a cute little park where we ate lunch...and a Tim Hortons was directly across the street. How convenient!

Tim's research turned up the St. Lawrence Market. What an amazing market! There was such a great selection of fresh meats and produce.

Hungry for lunch? St. Lawrence Market's Carousel Bakery was the PERFECT place to try a Toronto tradition - a peameal bacon sandwich!

Here goes the first bite!

Huh. Not bad!

Harbour Tour time! We found a great Groupon for a harbour tour. Who wouldn't enjoy a boat ride from the city to the Toronto Islands?! Our boat ride gave me plenty of opportunities for some great skyline photos.

The island was, in a word, awesome. There was something for everyone - bike riding, amusement park, beach, clothing optional beach. That last one? Not for us. But, I told you. Something for EVERYONE.

The beach surprised us the most. It was amazing to know that this beautiful, quiet beach was just one short ferry ride away from North America's 4th largest city. It was so peaceful and relaxing...sigh...

See? CN Tower - still back there.

This nifty sign was at the end of the fishing pier. Halifax and Niagara Falls? Been there; done that! Vancouver - I'd love to see it one day! North Pole? No, thanks!

By day 4, we were completely relaxed. Can't you tell? Or maybe it was the peameal bacon sandwich from lunch...

CN Tower? Yup, still back there. We were really in Canada! *squeal*

Anyone need a washroom break?

Another architectural find on Pinterst - this nifty dock! It's called the Simcoe Wave Deck.

An accidental find - Purina Paws Way. Walking through this building made us miss Savannah.

There's our hotel! We spotted it while we were out and about walking around. :)

Wahlburgers is coming to Toronto! As a true, die hard New Kids on the Block fan, I am so super sad to be missing the grand opening of this restaurant. I've got another reason to go back now!
