Day 3 - Off to the BIG City!

Our last morning at Niagara Falls...we were a bit nervous about leaving. Niagara Falls had much more to offer than we anticipated, and there were still some things that we would have liked to do. We were also really nervous about driving into Toronto - the 4th largest city in North America. Yikes.

Food was really, really pricey at Niagara Falls. While our hotel groupon came with a voucher to the IHOP in the lobby, it was still pretty expensive. We opted for a Tim Hortons breakfast (YAY!!!) on a patio overlooking the waterfalls. Sigh. Most perfect breakfast ever.

It was so much fun to see French everywhere in Canada. I was amazed how much I remembered from my 4 years of study in high school.

#panoramic

The wind changed direction...check out how much mist was blowing into the road! We tried to walk to the top of the Horseshoe Falls one last time, but we "mist" out. #punny

Without a rain poncho, we would have been soaked!

Downstairs in that building?  A Tim Hortons. Oh yeah.

Canada's best burger? Really? Harvey's? If burgers taste like rubber hockey pucks, okay then. The poutine was AMAZING, though. ;)

Still about 110 kilometers away, but we can already see the skyline!

Better put a few liters in the car before we get into the city limits. Don't worry - there was a Tim Hortons at this exit for me.

We made it! Lots and lots of construction downtown, as Toronto is preparing for the 2015 Pan American Games.

Here's our first glimpse of the Hockey Hall of Fame! It was about 2 blocks down Front Street from our hotel.

And here's the view of the construction from our room. Wowza. Pretty sure this work wasn't going on when the Queen of England stayed at our hotel in 1997. (How cool is that?!)

After checking in, we decided to explore a bit. Eaton Centre was very crowded.

CN Tower

Back from exploring, only to find this had been delivered to our room! We were sure glad that Tim casually mentioned that we were on vacation to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Champagne, cheese, fruit, crackers, bread, and chocolate cake?! Yes, please!
