Vacation - Day 1 (7.13.08)

My dad and Tim's sister Abby both had birthdays yesterday - Happy Birthday!!!

My Aunt Joan and our good friend (best man) Aaron both have birthdays today - Happy Birthday!!!

We made it to Cape Girardeau, MO. We hit the road after church around 11:15 after a quick stop at Burger King for lunch on the road. Isaiah napped in the car as soon as we hit Highway 151 until the toll booth at the Illinois state line. (Yes, we did pay the toll. :-) Tim and I were very glad that Isaiah was napping when he did because traffic was horrible. It appeared to be stop-and-go from Edgerton, WI to the state line for no reason. People were not driving smart at all. They would drive neck-and-neck below the speed limit in both lanes and not allow others to pass. Ugh. Frustrating!

Once we got through the construction in Rockford (not too bad) it seemed to be smooth sailing. We stopped at a couple of rest areas in Illinois, and Isaiah really enjoyed these stops! Both rest areas had playgrounds, so we put him on the slide a few times.

Dinner was fantastic! It was a little late (roughly 8:00), but the food made up for the late time. We decided to get through St. Louis and ate in Festus, MO. Tim and Isaiah both had Captain D's, and I had Imo's. Isaiah is now a huge fan of hushpuppies! He also thought that the green beans were pretty tasty. I could go on and on about my salad and toasted ravioli. YUM! I wanted a pizza, but we were anxious to get on the road. The wait would have been a little long for that. Oh, well.

We arrived at Tim's parents' house sometime between 9:30-10:00. We chatted until 11:00, and Isaiah was going strong! It was a little rough getting him to sleep, and he woke up a couple of times.

Enjoy your day! Until tomorrow...

Glad to hear that you guys made it safely to your desitantion. Can you please explain what you guys had to eat last night? I mean for us Wisconsinites that have no clue what you are talking about. Glad Isaiah was a good little trooper for you both. Have fun in Missouiri and safe travels after his parent's to yours.
