Back to the Ball Park

But before the game, we had to eat supper, right? I was SO EXCITED to eat at Steak-n-Shake in Brookfield. It's an old St. Louis favorite of mine. I think it paired nicely with St. Louis Cardinal baseball (even if the Brewers did win this round).

Mallory left her hat on for about two seconds.

It was Bernie the Brewer bobble head night at Miller Park!

Besides us, there was one other family seated in our section. I think it was the most comfortable baseball game ever!

We were on the Club Level out in right field. Here's Corey Hart just after he zipped up his fly. Seriously. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen!

Mallory loves to read this book...even upside down. Our daughter - I like to think she's practicing to be a reading teacher just like me. I read books upside down all day at work, so they're right side up for my students sitting across the table from me.

These two are a hoot together!

Family Museum Day

We stayed overnight in Milwaukee Friday night after the game, so we could go to the Milwaukee Public Museum on Saturday. There is a Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit, so we met a group from church there. (Just my opinion - there was way too much to read. The readability level of the summaries was way too high for high-pressure reading, a.k.a. reading with someone breathing down your neck wanting to see the next artifact.)

Once again, Isaiah was NOT a fan of the butterfly house. Mallory did okay. I really like this picture that I took!

First Game of the Season

Friday night, we made it to our first MLB game of the season! It was perfect - the Cards were in town to play the Brew Crew!

The Kohl's Family of the Game was in our section; it wasn't us. :( But, not to fear! I couldn't pass up my moment to make it on the jumbotron! If you look above the K and to the left, you will see a girl in a pink sweatshirt taking a picture - that's me!

Isaiah quote for the weekend - Fun at baseball-yo! [Fast forward to Sunday (post to come soon), and Isaiah was mighty sad that we were not spending the night in a hotel. He kept saying, "Stay at a hotel? Okay."]

Menu Monday

The pulled pork baked potatoes were a success last week. Between that and the pot roast, I didn't even make spaghetti. We'll keep that on reserve for this week. We had planned to make some kind of rib roast for Easter, but we ended up ordering take-out from Famous Dave's. The All-American BBQ Feast was a special price for the day, so we ordered that. We have a TON of food left-over. I'm sure it will get us to Wednesday, at least.

The leftovers will be for our lunches; I'm trying to be good and have salad for dinners. I've been cutting up ham or chicken from the bbq and adding it to my salad. I've also been on a Craisins kick - yummy!

So, for this week it's leftovers followed by spaghetti.

Menu Monday

Last week's menu was a success! The Beer-Braised Chicken was not what I expected. It kind of looked like a stew with chicken breasts. Next time, I might cut the chicken into bite size pieces and serve it like a stew. Aside from the cooking time taking twice as long as the recipe said, it tasted pretty good!

I made the pot roast with dill yesterday. It was oUtStAnDiNg!!! I will definitely be making that recipe again.

Coming up this week are:

• BBQ pulled pork baked potatoes - I make boneless pork ribs in the slow cooker and shred the meat. Add a little bbq sauce and top it on a baked potato with other fixings - yummy!
• spaghetti and garlic bread

It's an easy menu for a busy week! It's Holy Week this week, so we have church Thursday, Friday, and Sunday (Easter!). No school on Friday and next Monday for me. I wish I had the whole week off, but oh well.

I'm not sure what I'm making for Easter lunch yet. We're kicking around the idea of a rib roast. I wanted to make a traditional ham, but Tim isn't a fan of ham. :-/
